Whether you’re seeking thrilling activities, scenic getaways, or vibrant festivals, there’s something just for you.
Single Day Road Trips
Bridge Day Adventure
On Saturday, October 19 from 7 am to 8 pm in Elkins, WV, kick off your adventure season with the adrenaline-pumping Annual Bridge Day Celebration at the New River Gorge! Bridge Day is one of the largest and most exciting gatherings in West Virginia, known for its extreme sports, community celebration and breathtaking views. While there, you will get to see base jumpers and rappellers descending off the iconic 876-foot-tall New River Gorge Bridge, and you will have a rare chance to walk along the underside of the bridge.
Along with the thrill, there’s also a marketplace filled with local art, crafts, live music and delicious food to enjoy that will immerse you in local West Virginia culture. It’s the perfect day to make new friendships with fellow students, soak in some breathtaking views, and dive into the excitement. The cost of this trip is $35.

ARTober Fest at Timberline Mountain
Enjoy a day at the 4th Annual ARTober Fest on Sunday, October 6 from 9 am to 8 pm! Set at the Timberline Ski Resort in Timberline Mountain, WV, this festival features a vibrant mix of local art, live music, and interactive activities. Check out handmade creations from artisans, enjoy live performances, and maybe even take a ride on the chairlift to see the stunning fall foliage. This is a great way to celebrate autumn and explore local culture for only $30.
Seven Springs Autumn Fest
Take a trip to Pennsylvania for the Seven Springs Autumn Fest on Saturday, October 19 from 9 am to 8 pm! Enjoy live music, novelty performers, balloon artists, and a wide range of handmade artisan crafts. For panoramic views of the vibrant fall colors, take a ride on the chair lift. Soak in the autumn atmosphere and enjoy a fun-filled day at Autumn Fest! To attend this road trip, the price is $40.
Overnight Road Trips
Mountain State Road Trip
Ready for a weekend packed with scenic beauty and outdoor adventure? Join Adventure WV from Saturday to Sunday, September 21-22, for a journey through the Allegheny Mountains. To start, there will be a drive to Thomas and Davis, a hike through Blackwater Falls State Park, visits to local restaurants and shops at Canaan Valley, and catching a sunset at Spruce Knob. Camping at Seneca Shadows will end the day with s’mores and starry skies. On Sunday, enjoy a relaxing morning with stunning mountain views and hiking opportunities. All meals and necessary equipment is provided in the $65 registration fee.
Wilderness Restoration Retreat
Enjoy a weekend retreat focused on preserving Mower Basin. Hike the Hawks Ridge Trail, participate in trail maintenance and cleanup tasks, and enjoy a campfire evening. You’ll even earn 4 hours of iServe community service for your efforts. This is a great way to contribute to the environment while soaking up some of West Virginia’s natural beauty alongside fellow mountaineers. Registration for this overnight road trip is $50.
Transportation and Gear
All trips will depart from the Student Recreation Center on the Evansdale Campus. The PRT is an available mode of transportation to get to the Student Recreation Center, but keep in mind that the PRT operates from 9:30 am to 10:00 pm on Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays. For all trips, dress and prepare for outdoor fun. Packing lists will be provided closer to trip dates, and all essential gear will be provided for the overnight road-trips.
