The crown jewel of Adventure WV’s fall water activities is the Cheat Narrows Rafting trip. This exhilarating experience takes you down the Cheat River Narrows, a section renowned for its lively Class II-III rapids. Surrounded by the breathtaking Appalachian landscape, you’ll navigate through thrilling rapids while working as a team with your fellow students.
Each rafting trip begins with a safety briefing and a rundown of paddling techniques, ensuring that all participants feel confident and prepared. As you paddle through the rapids, you’ll have moments to appreciate the natural beauty of the Cheat River, spot wildlife, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with shared adventure. This trip is ideal for both first-time rafters and experienced paddlers looking for a new challenge.
As you prepare for this exciting adventure, make sure to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that you're at ease wearing a climbing harness over. Your well-being is at the forefront, so comfort and safety are key.
How to Get Involved
Adventure WV makes it easy for WVU students to participate in these fall water activities. Registration is available through the Adventure WV website or at the Outdoor Recreation Center on campus. Since spots are limited, especially for popular events like Cheat Narrows Rafting, it’s best to sign up early to secure your place.
All necessary equipment is provided, so there’s no need to worry if you don’t own paddling or rafting gear. Just bring yourself, some appropriate clothing, and a readiness to embrace the outdoors!
